PERFECT CONDITION

dog days of summer

Do you always look around for that ‘Perfect Condition’ before you do anything?  Have you ever tried just doing and being without nothing around you? When you wait for the perfect condition, you push away your creativity, your energy and settle for just what comes next.

Sometimes, that once in a lifetime opportunity passes you by in a hurry and you miss the positive energy. What? Miss what? The chance for happiness today.  Your creative energy dips low and lower. You are delaying your life until the future arrives. You are not being honest with yourself. Sometimes we cannot see the happiness around us, because we are waiting for the future.

What’s wrong with NOW? If you do not enjoy the present, or you spoil the present with all these unused opportunities.  You need to dump the negativity and do what “Buster” is doing in the picture. Forget everything, stand in front of a big fan, and let the wind it creates drive the present all around you. Fretting about the past and agonizing about the future is hard work and doesn’t do a thing but offer confusion.

How many times have you picked up the cell, or started to send an email to friends you want to see? But, with the house not straight, or a dust bunny or two under the sofa, you panic. Why? Because you’re not perfect? Be happy with today and with your friends. The future is not going to wait for your happiness. Enjoy today or you will end up destroying both the present and the future.

When we wait for everything to be in its place, the positive energies evade us and we remain sad.  NOPE.  We have great opportunities left to accomplish and we need each other. Friendship is more than looking at perfect conditions, it is enjoying the road we travel to get there with friends and laughter. Things may not be perfect, but the opportunities are unlimited.

Go stand with Buster and enjoy your day.

HAPPINESS GONE?

Featured

Look all around you. What do you see?  Nothing?

Don’t worry, he couldn’t find his either. Now, we will work hard to find happiness for everyone.  Everyone thinks that if you have great success, you will be happy.  Doesn’t work that way. Of course, doing what you like is beneficial to your mind-set and gives you a great boost that can lead to your success. Of course, you have to work toward that goal.

Do you find yourself measuring your life with others’ lives. Do you feel depressed when others get and achieve something?  You always wanted to try that but you never got the nerve to try. Now, ask yourself why and list them down on a sheet of paper.  It seems that the minute you use your own thoughts and pen and paper, things come to mind that you could not share with anyone else. These are your identities and you need to make them an important part of YOU.

Complaining to others and to yourself only gets you in deeper waters. Other people do not want to be around grumpy, obstinate people. Try to take things lightly and give consideration to other people before you jump to quick or too deep and cannot get yourself out the mire.

Do you ever find yourself needing everyone’s attention? Change the self-pity to gratefulness and search yourself for the answers. You might just be surprised at what you find. Others are not our answer to why we can’t find happiness. You are your answer. Check yourself out, you just might find more and more of the other YOU.

Positive opportunities are out there for everyone. But waiting for the perfect opportunity is not the answer and in the meantime, we push away our happiness and give it to someone else.

Enjoy today, feel the positive energies push you toward new horizons. May you find new peace and personal joy in each day. Keep a smile on your face. Laugh more. Hey, remember those huge belly laughs we used to get?  What’s stopping you now? And, don’t forget to share with your with your friends.

Happy thoughts and keep pushing forward. You’ve already been backward so get ready for a new life. Live in the present and enjoy yourselves.  Make each day count as a new experience and stack them up as lifesavers.

Let me hear some good old-fashioned belly laughs and I’ll share some of mine.  Ready. Set.  Go…HA…HA…HA!!!

WHERE’S SPRING?

Seasonal_Festivals

I looked all over for a special calendar and could not find SPRING, so this will have to do for now. As I sit at my desk, I can look out my windows and see nothing but grey clouds, trees waving their branches, and the only sign of spring is the green leaves and green grass. I want to see sunshine, hear birds singing, see and smell flowers in bloom, and know that May Day is just around the corner. Spring seems to get lost between the long winter months and the hot summer months.

Do you remember your ‘Spring Times’? As a child, I remember the opportunity to stay and play outside a little later, watch the flowers peek through the dirt, see squirrels scamper up and down tree trunks, chasing each other and having a good time. And now that we are so close to May, do you remember the May Days? We’d walk up to a friend’s house and hide our May Basket for that special person and run away before anyone saw us.

Guess, Spring Time brings back wonderful memories and yet gives us space to make new memories. Each season gives new hope and ideas to think about and try.

A couple of weeks ago, the Library in my neighborhood, held its first Poetry Reading Night. Great attendance and wonderful poems. I was impressed by all the presenters and their ability to share without any props, like a book, and their words gave music to our ears.

Yeah, I got up, but had to have my poetry book in my hands, my glasses on, and no dancing around. But, it was fun and they plan to do this every so often. Maybe I can get my act together and do this without my book. Doubt it, but hey who knows. So to end this post, I would like to share  MOODS OF MUSIC,

Music opens the windows of the soul creating many moods. Strings of violins being gently caressed sing of intimacy, soft flickering candle light. Rumble of the drums gives a dominating beat to life – slow measured steps or a fast-moving pace. A slide trombone can bring a feeling of melancholy, a sway to the music, a backward trip in memories. Reeds of the clarinet performing jazzy blues mixing the past and present together. Cymbals clashing awakens opportunities yet to be explored.  Moods of music, complacent, invigorating, dreamy. . . Open your soul and listen.

Happy Spring.  Happy Writing.

USE YOUR VOICE

images_063What? I am a writer. There is no singing in my head, unless on the radio. It is my fingers that do the work as they tap on the keyboard.

NO. Your voice is how you write. The attitude you give your characters. They must come alive and give their attitudes to your readers. Some days, their attitude is fantastic, upbeat, positive. Sometimes their attitude stinks. They seem to stay on edge, waiting for something to happen. They are nasty and ugly. Does this sound familiar? Since we are our characters’ voice, we have our good days and our bad days.

Voice is what your reader hears after you give your character a physical description. Does the voice fit the character? Could you pick your character out in a crowd? Your character takes on a living personality by all the actions you let your character show. The voice must fit these actions.

Give yourself a test. Read a page or two of your current work in progress. Do you feel moved by your characters? Now, go to a newspaper or magazine article. Do you hear or feel the voice? No. The writer or journalist must keep their voice quiet. They must present an impersonal objectivity of their work or article.

Aren’t we writers lucky? We get to make our work personal. Our stories show the emotions of each character on good and bad days. This is your voice and it is you, the writer, making each character sound genuine. When you force a voice, you make the character seem false and can turn the reader away.

Keep passion in your voice as you show your characters in so many different situations. They will love you for this. Then you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and who knows, see a different side of your characters.

HAPPY WRITING.
